Community Service

As part of the APAF Cares initiatives, attendees are encouraged to participate in one of the following three activities to make a difference in our local & global communities.

"Sole Hope" Shoe Making
  • Volunteers cut shoe templates out of denim and plastic. These will then be mailed to 'Sole Hope' who will sew them into shoes for kids in Africa.

United Way Literacy Kit Building
  • Volunteers design related props, games or other activities to make reading interactive and enjoyable for everyone involved.

Welcome Reception

Kick-off the week at the APAF 2016 Global Symposium Welcome Reception! Experience Cincinnati with an evening of networking, music, local fare and entertainment at the world renowned Great American Ballpark. Guests will have the opportunity to take a free tour of the Great American Ballpark, walk the Hall of Fame Museum, and enjoy local entertainment and cuisine.

Time: 7:00 - 10:00 pm
Location: Great American Ballpark
Transportation: Transportation will be provided for attendees beginning at 6:40 pm from the Duke Energy Center. Buses will return to the Duke Energy Center and the Hyatt Regency, Hilton, Renaissance and 21C hotels beginning at 9:00 pm.



HealthAhead Challenge

Win a Fitbit Charge if you complete the HealthAhead challenge! To accomplish this, collect all 6 HealthAhead badges during the InDiGo symposium, and your name will be automatically added to the list of HealthAhead champions. The winner will be randomly selected from this list!

To earn a badge, scan the special QR code using the GE APAF mobile app QR scanner during the HealthAhead Screening and Morning Fitness activities (except Run/Walk).

You will get 1 badge for the following:
1. Blood pressure, abdominal circumference
2. InBody Measurement
3. Grip Strength + GEFC information
4. Education + RD lunch box education
5. One Tuesday morning activity (Run/Walk*, Bolly Zumba, or Yoga)
6. One Wednesday morning activity (Run/Walk*, Bolly Zumba, or Tai Chi)

For participants opting for the Run/Walk morning activity, please take a selfie while doing your activity and show it to the InBody Measurement booth during HealthAhead Screening in Duke Energy Center. The HealthAhead coordinator will provide the QR code for you to scan using the GE APAF mobile app QR scanner.



HealthAhead Screening

Complimentary health screenings are available on Tuesday & Wednesday at the Duke Energy Center in Room 235. Advance reservations are not required. Attendees are encouraged to visit the Screening Room and booth. Screenings will take approximately 20 minutes and attendees are encouraged to visit the Screening booth for additional information following their analysis.

Screening Options:
  • Height and Weight Measurements
  • Abdominal Circumference
  • Blood Pressure and Heart Rate
  • Body Fat Percentage
  • Body Mass Index (BMI) - measurement of body mass based on height and weight
  • Results Coaching
  • Grip Strength
Attendees participating in the in-body screening will be required to remove shoes and stockings. Bare feet are required so please plan accordingly. Those who are pregnant, have a pacemaker, or any electrically implanted medical device may not do the in-body screening.



HealthAhead Morning Fitness Activities

As part of the HealthAhead initiative, attendees are invited to participate in early morning Fitness Activities. During registration, attendees will have a few options for exercise:

Run/Walk Around Downtown Cincinnati
  • When: Tuesday, October 25 and Wednesday, October 26, 2016
  • Time: 6:00 - 6:45 am
Group Exercise Classes
  • When: Tuesday, October 25 and Wednesday, October 26, 2016
  • Time: 6:00 - 6:45 am
  • Location: Classes will be held in the Hyatt Regency only. Attendees will sign up in Registration for the class of their choice. Attendance is limited.
  • Classes Offered: Yoga (Tuesday), Tai Chi (Wednesday) and Bolly Zumba (Tuesday & Wednesday)



Gaming Lounge

Unwind and relax, network and bond with fellow attendees after a brain-intensive day of sessions through competitive and cooperative games in our Gaming Lounge.

Awards and Gala Dinner

Join us for the Awards and Gala Dinner. We will be celebrating the successful week with music, entertainment and dancing.

Attire: Please wear cultural attire

A live musical production, The Rising Sun - An Asian Journey, depicting the diversity inherent in Asian cultures will be performed during dinner. This performance cuts across cultures and presents a unified vision for the future.
